Die Cut & Waterjet Cut Parts:
Mercer fabricates any custom shape that can be cut from sheet goods for use in a wide variety of non-sealing applications. There is no limit to the size or shape.

Sheet & Strip:
We will wholesale uncut sheet goods or cut them into strips of any size.

Standard Pipe Flange: We stock all popular sizes and materials for immediate shipping.

Custom Gaskets: We handle any size or shape. We fabricate these gaskets the same day, or within the hour if needed.

Encapsulated: A gasket of one material is totally enclosed in a continuous layer of another material (usually Teflon®) with no join. Usually done with O-Rings and Molded Seals.

Envelope: A gasket of one material is covered by an envelope of another material (usually Teflon®). We supply slit or milled envelopes and conventional or square form shields.

Laminated: Two or more materials are layered together to form a gasket which is often enclosed in an envelope.

Molded/Extruded/Vulcanized: See O-Rings & or Extruded and Molded Gaskets

Boiler: We fabricate old-style fiberglass boiler gaskets for hand-holes and man-ways, as well as peroxide-cured EPDM Topogee gaskets. We supply any size of spiral-wound gasket for modern boilers.

GLASS FIBRE TAPES, ROPES AND CORDS

GLASS FIBRE TAPES, ROPES AND CORDSGlass fiber is a product that is easily knitted to form tapes, ropes and cords. Tapes are used as heat proof seals on boiler or oven doors and usually come plain, or latticed. Ropes and cords may be similarly used, or used as pipe insulation. Many widths, and diameters are available. All come in rolls, usually 30 meters in length.

This product has excellent thermal resistance, but should not be used as a seal against pure steam. Because of it's soft pliability it is excellent for filling gaps where temperatures are relatively high, but pressures are low.

MANHOLE GASKETSMost boilers have access ports built into them. These are sealed by oval shaped lids. Gaskets suitable for use with manholes come in three broad styles.

  1. RUBBER
A specially formulated rubber is used to withstand the constant temperature and pressure to which these gaskets are subjected. A rubber gasket should not be used above 180 deg. C.

  2. FIBER GLASS
Vulcanized fiberglass may be used instead of rubber and above 180 deg. C. This type of gasket consists of soft woven fiberglass bonded with rubber to give it resilience so that it will seal.

  3. Spiralwound
A specially shaped spiral wound may be used. In this case the spiral is wound in an oval and does not have inner or outer rings. Used where temperatures limit the use of rubber and fiberglass. The oval access doors must have well finished seating surfaces for this style of gasket to work properly.

Sponge products can be supplied in either PLAIN or SELF ADHESIVE BACKED form. Sponge rubber comes in two main formats, CLOSED CELL or OPEN CELL.

Closed cell sponges have no connecting cavities, making it ideal for applications where water exclusion and sound and gas retention are important. It is also much more resistant to compression and has excellent thermal insulation characteristics.

Open cell sponges have a greater compression set and are less shock absorbent.

Sponge is available in many grades, in roll form, cut to any width, or in a die cut form where it can be converted into any size and shape. Also available as o-ring cord.
